Our story…
Calvary Chapel Desert Streams is a church plant from Calvary Chapel in Bend, Oregon. Back in late 2019, my wife Shari & I felt the Lord calling us to go & plant a church in San Tan Valley, AZ. We arrived in January 2020 and soon after, a home bible was started in our home. The Lord blessed that time and soon raised up a group that met in a local school. In the time following, we have since moved into our own building in a vastly expanding section of town.
Our desire at Calvary Chapel Desert Streams is first & foremost to worship & glorify God our Savior. Secondly to desire to see the saints thoroughly equipped for every good work by studying God’s Word chapter by chapter, verse by verse. We want to see lives conformed to the image of Jesus Christ through the study of God's Word & by the work of His Holy Spirit.
What we Believe:
The Bible
WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative, inerrant, Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21)
God
WE BELIEVE there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30)
Jesus
WE BELIEVE in the deity of Christ (John 10:30); His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:34-35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9); His resurrection (John 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19); His personal return to earth in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16)
The Holy Spirit
WE BELIEVE in the present ministry and gifts of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life (Romans 8:13-14; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18)
Redemption & Salvation
WE BELIEVE in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature, and that all are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ, and only by God’s grace through faith alone, are we saved (John 3:16-19, 5:24; Romans 3:23, 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5)
Heaven & Hell
WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:28-29, John 3:16-18,36)
Church
WE BELIEVE in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that it is necessary to gather together as an assembly to worship God and do the work of the ministry together, as commanded in the Scriptures. (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28; Hebrews 10:25)
The End of Time
WE BELIEVE that a literal rapture of the Church will take place. WE BELIEVE that a literal 7 year tribulation on this earth will occur under the influence of an Anti-Christ during which God's wrath will be unleashed. WE BELIEVE in a literal Second Coming of Christ after the tribulation to rule and reign for a literal 1,000 years. (Matthew 24; 1 Corinthians 15:52; 1 Thessalonians 4:17; Revelation 20)
